Y4it Narrative Report 2013



     The day September 17 and 18, 2013 the 11th Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology held at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. The y4it that I was really looking forward to. I was very excited because all the IT students all over the Philippines will come and meet in one place. I was also excited not only because it was first time to come in SMX Convention Center but also the speakers that will come and share there experience to us in the fields of software development and application programs. The day that I was really looking forward to. The speakers are very awesome and have wide range of experience, there I learned so many things. That's why I really focused on topics that they were discussing.

     The program started with a Welcome address by Mr. John Peter Abraham Ruero who opened the speech.
     The first speaker was Ms. Rhea Althea Guntalilib, a Software Development Analyst at the Smart Communication, Inc. She discussed about the “IT for the Blind: The Key to a Brighter Future” where she told us about having a condition like being blind is not a problem where you are determined to do something. Becuae of that I was really so amazed to her.
     The next was Mr. Paul Rivera the founder and CEO of Kalibrr, the world’s first Massive Open Assessments and Training platform, he discussed the “Y-Combinator and Entrepreneurship”. Next speaker was Kevin Leversee the Co-Founder and CEO of StartupDragongs, he discussed about the “Internet of Things: You have been Assimilated” and he speaks teaches and writes about technology and business development.Next speaker was Winthrop Yu, the President of the Philippine Chapter of the Internet Society. And he discussed about the “Who Runs the Internet”.Next was Ms. Sheryl Hermoso, a training officer at the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre or the (APNIC), and she discussed about the IPv6. After she finished in her speech we went to have our launch Break.
     Then after launch the next speaker was Mr. Monchito Ibrahim the Deputy Executive Director for Policies, of the ICT Office Department of Science and Technology. His topic was about the “Keynote Speech” and at the same topic Mr.Naveen Asrani, the Director Product Management in the Java Product organization at Oracle also discussed the same topic on our second day of the seminar. The next speaker was Ms.Christy Book-Tsang, the Master Affiliate of the Linux Professional Institute or the (LPI) in the Asia Pacific. She talked about the “The New Era of Open Source”, and she was also a speaker on the second day of the seminar with the same topic and discussion .Then the next speaker was Mr.Aurelio Vilbar, the Principal, of the University of the Philippines in Cebu High School and Mr. Kim Bondoc a Faculty Member at the University of the Philippines in Cebu High School. Where they discussed about the “Apps for Learning Empowerment”. Then there was a raffle draw where they giving a Samsung pocket cell phone. Then Mr. Gian Scottie Javelona, the Founder and CEO of the OrangeApps Inc, was the next speaker ad he discussed about the “The Sooner You Start, The Faster You Learn” and Mr.Chino Philip Adrian Atilano the Co-Founder and CEO of the TimeFree Innovations Inc, discussed about the “Start Things Right”, and both of them inspired me with there topic.
     And that’s the end of our first day seminar, and we all went back to Ambassador Hotel to have our rest. And at the next day we check out at the hotel and went to SMX Convention again to continue the seminar. In our second day our speakers where, Mr.Markku Kero, the Founder and CEO of the Job and Eastern Technologies, where he discussed about the “The Future of Cross Platform Development…Is Here!”, Mr.Bebo White a Department Associate (Emeritus) at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, he talk to us about the his topic the “Accessibility Challenges of the Next Decade: Cloud and Mobile Computing and Beyond”, next was Mr.James Whittaker, he is a Distinguished Technical Evangelist in Microsoft Corporation, and his topic was “Beyond Mobile and the Web: The Next Generation of Apps”, then Mr.Mio Miguel Galang was the next speaker a Chief Data and Web Engineer for Lifebit his topic was about the “How to get a Job, Become Famous, and Win at life in the Digital Age”, after his speech we have our launch break, we take pictures and etc. then after that we seminar continue but unfortunately we were late and didn’t heard the speech of Mr. Eusebio Barrun Jr. the community Manager, of Mozilla Philippines, his topic was the “Talk by Eusebio Barru Jr.” and he discussed about the Mozilla Philippines. The next speaker was Johan Janssens the Joomla Co-Founder, techentrepreneur and a Web Architect his topic was “Program or be Programmed: The Future Belongs to the Curious” where he gave a IPhone5, and the last speaker was Mr.Ronald Cirujano a country manager at the Elance Inc, his topic was all about the “Work Differently: The World Wide Web of Opportunities” and that was the end of our seminar.    
     And that's all, I hope the next y4it they will also introduce some new software's and new products and what are the programs that they are using so we could also practice on that.
